Water is life! Access to clean drinking water and sanitation is a fundamental human right, which the Nigerian government accepted and signed the UN Resolution 64/292. Enugu State government has further affirmed it by explicitly recognizing access to safe water and sanitation as a human right in its law (Enugu State Water Sector Law, 2021).
The Network of Water Rights Initiative [NEWARI] is a coalition of over 21 NGOs committed to enhancing access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene services in Nigeria, through a human rights and responsibility-based approach. Our vision is to have a Nigeria where the Human Rights to Water and Sanitation is upheld, and every person, irrespective of background or circumstance, has access to sustainable water and sanitation services that enables a healthy and dignified life.
In line with our vision, the recent cholera outbreak across Nigeria and the recent strides by Enugu State Government to improve water supply across Enugu Metropolis, we are conducting an evidence-based advocacy and research (situation analysis) to assess the status of water supply in public institutions across Enugu Metropolis.
This survey aims to gather information on the availability, quality, access, affordability, and satisfaction with water supply in the Enugu Campus, as well as awareness of government’s efforts to improve water supply across Enugu Metropolis, including key institutions like schools and hospitals.
The information provided will only be used for the purpose of this research. For more information about this study, kindly contact us via [email protected]
